Steve Liberati, Trainer

Steve Liberati is the founder of Steve’s Club (an athletic fitness club in Camden, NJ serving young athletes) and a Level I certified CrossFit Trainer as well as CF Endurance/Running, Barbell, Olympic Lifting and CF Kids certified.  Steve is a very passionate trainer/coach who loves helping others develop their bodies into the efficient, functional machines they were designed to be.  With over 6 years of experience working with athletes and individuals in various settings, Steve has seen and tried many different exercise regimens, none of which compare to CrossFit for developing cardiovascular fitness, strength, and flexibility together.

A devoted CrossFitter himself, he loves the group camadarie, variety in the workouts and the awesome results that come with CrossFit.  Steve fully understands the importance of training and what it takes to get to the next level. Steve lives according to the principles of Evolutionary Fitness and has been doing so for the last 3 years.  As far as nutrition goes, he follows a paleo diet (in Zone proportions) and fasts at random throughout the week. Steve strongly believes we can intelligently address most health and fitness issues by adopting a lifestyle that reflects the genetic successes of our ancestors. By exercising regularly and providing our body with the proper fuel in the proper proportions, anyone can achieve the level of fitness they desire.

CrossFit Certifications and other applicable Seminars: CrossFit Level 1 Certification, CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certification, CrossFit Basic Barbell Certification, CrossFit Kids Certification, CrossFit Endurance.

Patrick Byrnes, Head Trainer

Pat Byrnes is a Level 1 Certified Crossfit Trainer with a background in amateur Mixed Martial Arts including  Muay Thai Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  After participating in his first crossfit workout, Fight Gone Bad, in September 2008 he did not return to Crossfit until that November. He returned with hopes that training at the Tribe would supplement more strength and conditioning into his fight training.  Pat has since adopted the paleo diet as his own and follows a fairly strict paleo diet (Not Zone).  Pat hopes to continue training and coaching at Crossfit Tribe and aspires to become a vital role in the growth of the local Crossfit community.

Michael DeLuca, Trainer

Michael had been Crossfitting for a little over a year after stumbling upon Crossfit while researching various strength and conditioning programs. Like a lot of people out there, Michael suffers from what he calls exercise ADD and believes crossfit gives him just enough variety to stay focused and committed.  Michael is a former college athlete and believes the camaraderie and competition is what makes the program a success.  Michael does not believe crossfit is a one size fits all strength and conditioning program and views crossfit as a foundational tool that should be tweaked to get the most out of their clients.

Michael received his Level 1 Crossfit Certification Seminar on October 18, 2009.

Lee Knight, Trainer

Lee started her athletic career at 6yrs old as a competitive gymnast, competing for 13 years.  In college she decided to play rugby and 6 years later was playing on the New York Rugby Club (one of the Top 3 clubs in the country) and the US Women’s National Team.  She was a member of the National Team for 3 years and played on the 2006 Women’s World Cup squad.  After retiring from rugby, she helped coach the Northern VA Women’s Rugby team for 5 seasons, but needed a new competitive outlet and found CrossFit in August 2008.  Lee qualified as an individual for the Crossfit Games in 2009 and competed with Team Fairfax in the 2010 Games (placed 19th/70th at the Games, 2nd at the Central East Regionals).

Lee is CrossFit Level 1 Certified, CrossFit Kids Certified, and the current Program Director for Steve’s Club (www.stevesclub.org).  She joins us from DC, where she was a trainer at CrossFit Fairfax (VA), CF Balance (DC) and had a number of personal training clients.

She loves burpees and is excited to join the Tribe!

Ann Panarello, Trainer

Ann is a Crossfit Level 1 Certified Trainer.  She began Crossfitting in September of 2009.  With a background of athletics in soccer and basketball, it wasn’t long before Ann turned to Crossfit competitively.  Ann was a member of the 2010 Crossfit Tribe Affiliate Team and got the unique opportunity to compete in the 2010 Crossfit Games.  Ann is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree in Psychology and believes the Crossfit model of wellness, which incorporates both exercise and diet, can lead to psychological wellness in addition to physical wellness.  Her passion for educating others continues to drive her training and coaching.

Ann subscribes to the Paleo Diet for nutrition and is excited to promote health related behaviors to others.  Ann’s favorite exercises include the power clean, pullups and kettlebell anything!
